Endophytic renal mass (RCC) mimicking Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma

A 69-year-old female presented with flank pain and gross hematuria

Urine cytology *3 was negative for malignancy

Ultrasound study revealed a 5 cm mass in left renal pelvis and pyelocaliceal system.

 

 

MRI:

 

 

 

 

 

Due to the most probable diagnosis (UTUC), the patient underwent left radical nephroureterectomy

 

 

 

 

Surgical Pathology Report:

 

 

 

Left Kidney Mass: Renal cell carcinoma with clear and chromophobe components 

 

Left ureter: Ureteral tissue free of tumor

 

IHC study: the IHC pannel was supportive of Chromophobe renal cell carcinoma
